Steve Calkins was named Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for Office Depot, Inc. in August 2016. In this role, Calkins is responsible for managing worldwide legal, regulatory, compliance and government affairs matters for the company.
After several years in private practice, Calkins joined Office Depot’s legal team in 2003, serving in various capacities including as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. In 2011, Calkins was appointed Senior Vice President, North American Business Solutions, managing Office Depot's contract sales organization. Following the merger with OfficeMax, in 2013, he was named Executive Vice President, Contract Sales. As part of his operational duties, Calkins was also responsible for Office Depot's Grand & Toy business in Canada, as well as Print & Services and Customer Service across North American selling channels.
During his time at Office Depot, Calkins has played a significant role in a number of dealings, including mergers and acquisitions from both a legal and business perspective. Calkins' operational experience, including his work as head of Office Depot’s contract business for more than five years, enabled him to return to the legal department as a well-rounded leader with broad business perspective.
